My passion for Liverpool Football Club (LFC)
An English friend of mine, (M.B.) who is a true ManUSA fanatic once labelled me as a “Scouser wannabe” because of my true passion for Liverpool Footbal Club (LFC). As much as I am proud of my Dayak roots, I feel honoured to be labelled a Scouser (though it’s only a wannabe). At least it shows how much M.B. is disgusted of my genuine passion for LFC. A Dutch friend of mine (BdP) said that he’s still puzzled over my love for LFC, having the fact that Malaysia is thousands of miles apart from Anfield. Such is my interest on LFC and English football that I even had the Liverbird tattoed on my right arm …
I found my bride
I recalled reading a newspaper article when I was at Manchester the other day about how two young lovers (then in 1945) met, fall in love and got married because of a box of margarine. Bette Kennedy, who then 16 worked in a CWS food factory in Manchester during the World War II where she cheekily slipped her name and address into a margarine container. Herbie Reynolds, then 19, was a sailor aboard a minesweeper in the English Channel when the ship’s cook found Bette’s note. You can read the full story here.
