SingleTrackMind’s new [hey.] Album
Kuching’s own singer/songwriter Alex Wong aka SingleTrackMind (STM) launched his much anticipated second album named [hey.] on March 1st 2007 after three long years since his acclaimed debut album entitled No Reason.
headsteadi.com is honoured to be given the trust by Reputation Mercatus Malaysia to promote STM’s [hey.] album on this humble blog.

I sampled two of the tracks from this new album, One Day(thanks to Audrey from Mercatus) and Seventeen and I must say that they’re going to be hit songs this year. One Day STM’s English adaptation of Indonesian Peter Pan’s mega hit Mungkin Nanti. Those who likes Mungkin Nanti would love One Day as STM had creatively written the lyrics in English and brilliantly re-arranged the music, adding more energy and feeling to the song. I personally like Seventeen because of the music arrangement and the featuring of Sarawak’s Orang Ulu traditional musical instrument, Sape. This ballad is about loss and closure and how a person coming to terms with it. I can’t help but notice there’s some influence of U2 kind of music in this song. Watch “Seventeen” video clip here.
As is typical of STM, [hey.] contains tracks with thoughtful lyrics of the human condition which he acquired through his extensive travels and life’s experiences. This talented singer/songwriter deftly blends influences of U2, Pink Floyd, Collective Soul, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Matchbox Twenty within the album. This time around STM wrote most of the songs using the guitar rather than at the piano and this has resulted in an overall different vibe for [hey.].
There’s also “Still The Same” and “Light Fades” songs featured in the future release psychic thriller movie The 3rd Doorway, starring Gary Dourdan from the CSI Vegas television series.
[hey.] was recorded in Los Angeles and mainly written by Alex himself. Of the ten tracks, one is an adaptation (One Day) and two (One Step At A Time & Light Fades) were written with others. The album was recorded with Bob Koszela a producer who has worked with Motorhead, Poison and Don Henley and fellow Sarawakian Julian Chan an engineer who has worked with such artistes as Sting, No Doubt, Gwen Stefani, Papa Roach, The Hives and many more.
