I took a short recce trip to the east coast of Malaysia with Tan and Jane from Glory Travelmart (Glory), the agent for our upcoming team away day.

The journey from KL took about five hours. We reached Chukai town in time for lunch and Glory took me to Restoran Malaysia to sample the famous Baked Crab in town. This halal Chinese restaurant is a family run business that has spanned to two generations and is a favourite spot to the local including the VIPs.

We ordered kailan fried with garlic, chilli squid, steam prawn (i like this), fried fish with garlic (i like this too) and their famous signature dish, the baked crab (also nice). All the seafood that we ordered were virginal fresh and lightly salted hence you could still tingle the original taste of the fish, squid and crab.

The stuffed crab revealed itself. Worth ordering than the normal crab where you normally find less meat and you have to struggle breaking the shell.

The restaurant’s signature dishes on display. The best part of all is that the foods here taste like home-cooked meal.

Restaurant Malaysia is open from Saturdays until Thursday and close on Fridays. Business hours is 12pm until 3pm and continued again from 6.30pm until 9.15pm.
