Kuala Kubu Bharu Waterfall

I found this website the other day.

Since Thursday was a public holiday, friends of B.I made a picnic trip to the waterfall. It was something different from our usual activities of karaoke and BBQ gatherings. Hence, off we went to Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB).

Our meeting point was at Dataran KKB. Direction is very easy. From KL, take the North South expressway to the direction of Ipoh/Penang. Turn left at Rawang exit towards Rawang town. Drive ahead until you meet a roundabout, make a 3 o’clock turn towards Ipoh/Serendah old road. From there, drive straight until you see Dataran KKB on your right side.

From Dataran KKB, continue driving (towards the direction of the town) for another 15 minutes. Along the way, you’ll see scenic water dam. As you left the dam, if you notice that you’ve crossed an old bridge (built during the British time), it means you’re already entering the waterfall territory. Not far from the bridge, on the right side is entrance to the Chiling Falls. I am planning to visit this waterfall during the dry season this year. It is for those who are more adventurous and it requires proper planning and gears. Back to my trip, you would notice clear areas at the shoulder of the road. This is a sign that there’s a good spot for picnicking. There should be a bush trail leading towards this spot.

Special menu for the day was, chicken in bamboo (pansuh), fish in bamboo and of course barbeque is a must. While the guys were preparing lunch, the ladies enjoyed their breakfast.

After the kitchen was lit and we had first round of lunch, the ladies took over.

Meanwhile, the guys immersed themselves in the chill water.

As the cloud was getting dark, we packed and left around 3pm. We stopped again at Dataran KKB for a drink at Long Banga Ulu Baram cafe, owned by a Mirian. Who would thought there’s a fellow Sarawakian opening a business at the middle of nowhere. While we were enjoying our tea, the stall operator played us Tanda Poco-Poco. Wow! Who would have expected they have Iban karaoke VCDs in the remote KKB. The journey back to KL was accompanied by heavy rain but we had a good time.
