Borneo Baruk Club or BBC in short, as its official website claims is “the hottest new meeting place in town, either day or night which offers a new dimension in leisure and entertainment with a distinctive Borneo flavor“.

I took the Mrs for a Valentine’s Day dinner at BBC’s Rafflesia Restaurant. We were greeted by their friendly floor manager and polite captain. The captain showed us to our table, decorated with rose petals and candle.

He recommended the restaurant’s Valentine’s day package which was a worthwhile dining experience. I ordered roast beef for my main course. I realized the captain didn’t ask how i wanted my beef but it come medium done which is how I would normally have it. I forgot what was the side dish called but it taste like poached pie.

My Mrs had grilled salmon which was just okay. Nothing special and the side dish did not impress me.

The dessert was chocolate pudding topped with banana and caramel cream sauce.

Patrons were entertained by Filipino band Hurricane but their live performance failed to impress me. Poor vocals and substandard music.

BBC is located at Jalan Kia Peng surrounded by the major hotels in town and a walking distance from Bukit Bintang and KLCC.

The special attraction of BBC is its long happy hours which they called “Hyper Hours”. It is being offered from 11am until 9pm daily for all patrons.

BBC’s house special is of course Sarawak’s local cuisine such as Laksa Sarawak and Mee Kolok. The next time I visit BBC, I would conduct food tasting on the laksa and mee kolok to find out whether BBC has successfully emerge as ambassador of Sarawak delights. I will offer my fair critics for sure.
