Out of Africa is a family of restaurants that offers special BBQ Steak menus. The one that I dined in is located at South Chaweng Beach.

There’s another outlet located at Central Chaweng with similar setup but much bigger space. The bar is setup ala hut.

The kitchen setup is similar. Both restaurants do the grilling and barbecuing infront of the restaurant to attract customers. In fact, every night they will have one pig sacrificed on the skewer to tempt people to try out their dish.

My friends and I including the Mrs decided to try the food on our first night in Chaweng. The Mrs is not a big fan of pork so she played safe by ordering a half chicken. Nothing special about the chicken. In fact I think it’s a bit salty.

The rest of us were tempted to try the “Medievil BBQ Pork on the Spit” hence that’s what we ordered. When they served the meal, the portion looks too little but it’s actually very filling. In fact we struggled to clear our plates. Luckily I did not add additional 100baht to enjoy “all-you-can” otherwise it’ll be a waste.

I browsed through the menu and spotted some specialties such as Wild Boar Stew, Wild Deer Stew, Crocodile Steak and Ostrich Steak.

Two thumbs up! I’d certainly recommend you to check out this restaurant the next time you visit Koh Samui.

*** The staff is not really proficient in English. We ordered Lipton’s Ice Lemon Tea. The staff said they only have Peach tea so we go for that. However, when the came serving, it was Lemon Tea.

*** The owner took an effort to greet all patrons and make sure everything is ok.

Outlet atmosphere: 5.0/5.0

*** Lighting, music, air ventilation, all perfect!
