1st April 2008, Kuala Lumpur – Hard Rock Café Kuala Lumpur proudly brings you one of the world famous classical rock icons; John Ford Coley in a special showcase on the 4th May 2008 (Sunday) at 10.00pm.
John Ford Coley; a talented singer, musician, classically trained pianist, guitarist, actor and author, was born on October 13th, 1951 in Dallas, Texas. He is most well-known for his partnership in the Grammy nominated duo ‘England Dan & John Ford Coley’, where he’s received triple- platinum and gold records, and released 8 albums. They are typically remembered with their hit songs such as “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight”, “Love is the Answer”, “Nights Are Forever without You”, “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again”, “Simone”, “Gone Too Far”, “Soldier in the Rain”, “Westward Wind”, “Part of Me, Part of You”, “Falling Stars”, “Only A Matter of Time”, “Just Tell Me You Love Me”, “Broken Hearted Me”, “Longer”, “Lady”, “Make it with You” and many more.
Amongst famous hit makers that John’s performed alongside include Elton John, Bill Cosby, Led Zeppelin, Air Supply, Steve Miller Band, Loggins and Messina, Heart, Bread, Carly Simon, Chicago and Carole King.
The duo disbanded in 1980. John then slowly went on to act in teen films and acquired a small ranch in 1990s. John’s television exposure also crosses all demographic boundaries. He’s hosted “The Midnight Special” and co-hosted “The Mike Douglas Show”. He’s appeared on “The Tonight Show”, “David Soul and Friends”, “American Bandstand”, “Hollywood Squares (A Special Rock Edition), “Prime Time Country” and the “Trinity Broadcasting Network”. Some of John’s television and movie theme songs written or performed include “Just Tell Me You Love Me”, “Dr. Pepper”, “Major League, “Back To The Minors”, “James at 16″ and “Maxwell House Coffee” with the infamous Paul Newman in Japan.
In the 1990s, John Ford Coley made a trip south for Tin Pan South and began making trips to Nashville to be part of the music community. He penned a book on his years in the music industry and also another book about his spiritual journey back from a cult to Christianity.
Up till today, John still continues a strong touring schedule because of his undying passion for the music. And for the first time ever, Hard Rock Cafe KL will witness his supreme stage performance in this one-night-only special showcase on the 4th May 2008 (Sunday) at 10.00pm. This showcase will be part of John’s Hard Rock Cafe Asia Tour where he will also be performing in Hard Rock Cafe locations around Asia such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Bangkok. Fans can expect him to belt out his phenomenally successful songs from his previous albums with England Dan. As one of the most distinguished classical-rock icons in the world, John will definitely brings you an experience that you are sure to enjoy!
