Scrap metal art is very popular in Thailand. At every nook and corners you go, you’ll find souvenir shops selling memorabilia made from scrapped metal. One interesting shop I found is Nick’s Shop.

Located at the Big Buddha, Nick’s Shop sells statues adapted from famous movie characters such as Gremlins, Star Wars, Aliens vs Predators, Transformers, X-Men and many more.

The interesting part about Nick’s Shop is that the items are 100% handmade by their skillful Thai craftsmen who have many years of experience carving handicrafts from teakwood, resin and mascot. The memorabilias are made from bolts, nuts, screws, spark plugs and other auto parts by Nick’s skillful welders who use just a normal electric welding techniques.

The metal works are sold starting from US$75. A masterpiece sculpture could fetch a price of up to US$4500. For serious buyers who interested to purchase collector’s item or even a customized design, you could make an order as well and request for the final product to be shipped right to your door.
