I like my informal and unofficial affiliation with the marketing team of Planet Hollywood (PH) because that means I get priviledge access to PH’s Sunday Nite Live. Of course I go with a mission which is to review the live concert and report back in this blog so that more people would come for the next show.

Last Sunday May 18th, team headsteadi.com took the opportunity of Monday’s Wesak holiday to join rock legend Wings in celebrating their 21st anniversary concert. Except for Hillary (current lead guitarist of another rock legend and pioneer Search), all Wing’s guests made their appearance which include Kid (former lead guitarist of Search), Mus and Mel (former singers of Wings when Awie left the band), Jojet (Wing’s former drummer) Hattan, Ito and Sham (the first ex-lead guitarist of Wings before Joe joined).

Team headsteadi.com arrived half hour before the show started and the queue outside the main entrance was already very long. We “sneaked” through the side door which was for the media. Briefly introduced myself to Ms Erlina, marketing executive for PH whom I have been interacting with through email all these while. Although it was a brief introduction between ourselves as she was busy manning the media entrance, it was nice to finally met her and tie the face to the name.

As I made my way down to the basement, there was already a huge crowd packing every corners until it was hard to actually move around. Each time the deejay played nostalgic rock songs from the eighties and nineties the crowd cheered and sang along as they waited patiently for Awie (vocal), Joe (lead guitarist), Eddie (bassist) and Black (drummer) to appear on stage. Technicians were busy doing final sound check on the equipments.

According to my watch, the show started at 10.38pm. The crowd cheered their heart out as the four legends walked up the stage. I was a disappointed as I couldn’t get to the front of stage for good shots. I could only manage to stand at the side of the stage, near the kitchen area. Wings’ powerful and energetic performance went on for three hours non-stop. It was my first time to see Awie being comical onstage telling out jokes as he shares the history of the band for the past 21 years. Except for poor sound system and packed crowd, the concert was excellent!

If you missed the first concert, tonight is the second and final show. Entry is RM50 per person and I suggest you come early to avoid disappointment. For more details, click here.
Bro … It was great performance, Non-stop 3 hours full of energy. Too bad Awie’s microphone was a bit slack.
Wow… Awie. Lucky for you bro’
Anyway Happy Gawai. Hopefully Awie filled your pre Gawai fun
