Room Review - Vistana Hotel Kuantan

I spent last weekend at the east coast with a group of friends. It was a Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan (JJCM) trip, packed with activities to feast the hungry stomachs. After searching high and low for a good place, we decided to check in at Vistana Hotel Kuantan which is located not far from the city center, on the way to Teluk Cempedak and about 5 minutes drive to Tanjung Lumpur, which is Kuantan’s seafood haven.

Here’s my review of Vistana’s Deluxe room.

Let’s start with the bed. Vistana’s Deluxe Room comes with a king size double bed. The mattress is thick but soft, providing pretty good support for the back. There are four pieces of soft pillows which are quite ok because I didn’t have stiff neck the next day. I’m normally very particular about pillow because I can easily get stiff neck which makes me suffer on headache the following day.

The room is equipped with a make up table which also works as a working/studying desk. The telly comes with channels from the free TVs (RTM, TV3 and TV9) plus news, movie and sports channel from Astro. There’s only one radio channel broadcast.

The wardrobe is placed at the corridor and comes with safe deposit box.

I like the water heater. You just need to fill the jug and press the button. There are no power cords tangling around as the base is already fixed on the counter. Apart from looking tidy, it’s also a good safety feature. Unfortunately the mini bar was not filled up. There were only a couple of can drinks. That’s all!

The sink is built from marble with dual tap. The counter is furnished with basic bath kits that comes in a nice box.

The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub. Water is clean and pressure is strong. Unfortunately the shower head is just a normal type. It should’ve been fitted with the ones that can be adjusted to differrent types of shower patterns.

Most important of all, the toilet is clean.

On the overall, the front office staff are very friendly and helpful but the coffee house crew should be more generous with their smiles and offer assistance when required. Breakfast is lousy hence I regretted paying the room with breakfast. I should’ve just skip the breakfast since we were going to Hai Peng Kopitiam anyways. Swimming pool is small and there’s no privacy as it is too adjacent to the coffee house. There are quite ample space for parking and you can choose to park in the basement or in the open. When I was there the parking space was nearly full. The Star is the official morning paper but it was not delivered to my room instead was given to me when I checked out. Last but not least according to the front office staff, the YTL owned establishment has yet to introduce corporate rate.

6.5/10 rating for this hotel. For an RM189.57/night incl. breakfast, headsteadi.com recommends this strategically located hotel for business or leisure. More info here.

deejay … unfortunately there’s no such establishment within the hotel premise. we had to drive all over kuantan to find a good entertainment spot. nightlife in kuantan is not as good as in kuching. karaoke is most popular spots among the locals.

Stayed there for 3d/2n. The room was ok and the bed was comfortable. Could offer more variety of food for the sahur,
almost the same stuff. Kuantan life move at a slower pace.
The ikan bakar at tg lumpur worth trying.
