This makan place has been around for donkey years just at my backyard. I never bothered checking it out until my friend dragged me there last Thursday for lunch. The establishment is called Puchong Yong Tau Foo, located at Jalan Puchong Batu 14.

It’s an open air concept restaurant, so popular that during lunch time it is packed by regular customers from the nearby factories and offices. We went there at around 11.30am so there’s still plenty of seats available. By the time we finished at around 12.10, the place was already packed. Cars parked along the roadside and neighbouring houses were proof to this.

It’s a self-help system whereby you pick the foods that you want and tell the kitchen helpers whether you’d like it served fried or in soup.

We ordered chee cheong fun as starter.

Soon after, our soup came. We had bitter gourd, big red chillies and cangkok manis (pucuk manis).

For the fried yong tau foo, we had beancurd, tauhu and meat balls.
The food was satisfactory! I usually prefer yong tau fu as an option for light lunch apart from sandwich or Coffee Bean’s Chinese chicken salad. The portion we ordered could cater for 4-pax and there were just two of us. The bill came up at RM25.
How to get there?
Assuming you came from the IOI mall direction, take the LDP towards Cyberjaya. Before the left turning to Cyberjaya, take the first left. This is Jalan Puchong, the old Puchong road. You’ll see a mosque on your left. Go straight. You’ll pass by these landmarks in it’s order, DHL (right side), Koi Tropika Apartments (left side), Sri Maha Mariaman Hindu Temple (right). By this time, you’ve reached the fifth traffic light. Filter left and you will see Chinese school (left side). Drive further for another 100 meters and you will find Puchong Yong Tau Foo on your right.

Category: I think it’s non-halal although no pork served in the premise.

Thanks for the suggestions Herman. Now that you mentioned it,I may just like to try Amy Search’s Cheng Ho restaurant too at Wangsa Maju right?Lets jalan-jalan cari makan and do some food review hehe…
Where food is concerned I always go for Chinese provided it is halal.
Hammy # There’s one halal Chinese restaurant behind Wisma FAM. Hawker stalls concept.
There’s one in Shah Alam. If you’re heading towards Concorde Shah Alam, you will see Shell station on your right. It’s somewhere there. Air-conditioned restaurant.
I’ve been wanting to try Amy Search’s Chinese seafood restaurant. Must go there one day …
I seldom try this although there are halal food chains operating similar business.Wahh 2 persons taking in for 4-pax order, that’s quite an appetite hehe..
Hammy # Actually I like the YTF sold by Malay hawkers at pasar malam. Tastier and the kuah cicah also nyaman bah. The Chinese YTF, I prefer it served in soup with lots of bitter gourd and cangkok manis.
Never tried this.. but seems to be nice
cdason # try both Malay and Chinese version to compare the taste.
