A friend in need …

A friend of ours went back to Kuching for a two weeks Christmas holiday. Upon returning to his rented house in Sibu, he found out that his house was ransacked leaving only a mattress and some clothes. All other items such as electrical goods, home appliances, furniture etc, which had been collected since he started working were stolen.

When I thought about their six months old baby girl I felt the hardship that they had to endure in rebuilding their life back to normal.  A fund raising was initiated among members and friends from Bidayuh.Info forum community. Although there were unpleasant background noises and doubtful souls questioning this effort, probably over my integrity as the sponsor of this project, we managed to collect a total of RM1285.00 in this community service effort. I’d like to thank all the donors who had contributed with a big heart! I’m personally happy that I managed to lend a helping hand where and when needed. One thing for sure, I inherited this quality from Babuk Andrea. Remembered those days during my childhood, when he used to take me to India street, he’d pick up the coins in his pocket and dropped them in every single beggars’ cans along the kaki lima (foot path).

‘Amicu certus in re incerta cernitur’. Quintus Ennius (translation: ‘a sure friend is known when in difficulty’)

This cheque will be couriered to Sibu (in time for Valentine’s) for a small hand-over ceremony by our Sibu representatives.

p/s: Btw this is not that Top Secret project I’m talking about :D

  1. Babuk Andrea testimony:

Members/friends/Sponsors from Bidayuh info, your project helping people who are in need, is truly a noble course.

For christians, church and sundays are … but real christians reach out to people who are in need out there.

Believe it, from layman experiences if you give generously you will be rewarded 7 folds in many forms. It could be simply blessings for you and your family, successful children, good health, safety, stable job and income, prosperity, free from perils of the day, good luck, problems easily solved, THEHOLY SPIRIT always shows you the way. GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

  2. Sibu is a bit notorious for break ins… I know how your friend feel as my dad’s tuition centre was also ransacked in Sibu and he lost 2 computers. Probably the thieves could not carry more as the other 8 were untouched (could be small time thieves) and last month his office was ransacked again but they only managed to pass through the grill but not the door. Small items were taken. If anytime you friend needs something else just sound to me and I will see what my relatives in Sibu can do to help.

  3. You’re very compassionate and generous Herman.Exactly the kind of people and friends I would like to have around me.I’m always in support of any charitable or noble cause that would help alleviate others’ hardships. As they say a friend in need is a friend indeed. Not just friends in times of joys and laughters but in times of troubles and sorrows.Keep up the good humanity spirits.
