Home Cook Recipe is a Baba Nyonya restaurant located at Bandar Puteri Puchong. It’s quite a new joint, opened roughly over a year ago if my memory recollection is accurate enough. I have been passing by this restaurant many times before but today my 7th sense (my hungry tummy
) urged me to try this place out.

The establishment is setup to look like a traditional Baba Nyonya joint. The moment we entered the air-conditioned restaurant, we were greeted by stench smell of petai while the kitchen helpers were preparing petai on one of the table instead of inside the kitchen.

A waitress greeted and showed us the menu. Minutes later she came back and took our order. I decided to give ice cucumber (RM4.90) a try while Carol ordered the usual ice lemon tea (RM2.80). According to her, the ice lemon tea is a little bit too sweet while mine has a tingling sensation of lime and mint, topped up with syrup and cucumber. Taste rather unusual but I just gave it a go. Belasah ajer beb!

We decided to order ala carte meals. I asked for Assam Red Snapper (Assam Ang Zho). Price on the menu quoted as “Market Price’. The bill later charged it for RM18.00. Expensive for just a slice of red snapper but I immediately fell in love with this dish. Really delicious! I literally swept the plate clean ![]()

Next, we had Sambal Squid (RM8.00). Small serving with more cucumber than the squid. This dish is also very delicious. The sambal’s saltiness, sweetness and spicyness hit the right note. Perfecto!

For vege, we had it simple. We ordered poached Sawi (Mustard Greens) served in light soy sauce and golden fried garlic. Price of a small serving is RM6.00.

For soup, we had old cucumber soup (RM5.50). In Sarawak, we recognised this cucumber as timun dayak.
True to it’s name, the food really taste like home cooked. It’s very delicious and I’d certainly am going to come back for more. On the downside, the price is quite expensive considering we ordered small servings for all the dishes.
The damage came as RM46.40 (2 persons).
How to get there?
