I found Restoran Kerisik by accident when I was in Wangsa Maju. The original intention was to do a review on Restoran Cheng Ho, the much talked about Chinese Islamic Restaurant owned by Malaysia’s none other rock legend , Amy Search. Since it was closed or rather taking a post-lunch break, and at 3.30pm we haven’t had our lunch and were already starving, we decided to step into Restoran Kerisik which is two shops away from Restoran Cheng Ho.

The restaurant was empty except for a table next to ours. Perhaps because Wangsa Link is a new development and the shophouses are not fully occupied. Plus it was a weekend and was way beyond lunch time. I reckon there would be more patrons during the weekdays from nearby offices.

The interior of the establishment is setup to look like a traditional Malay restaurant. Framed textiles of songket motives decorated half the wall while the other half are filled by huge mirrors.

Restoran Kerisik serves Malay cuisine and also western foods such as pastas, chicken chops and chicken wings. Their house specialties are Nasi Kukus Kerutuk (RM7.00/set), Nasi Gulai Kerisik (RM6.90/set) and Air Halia Telur Puyuh (RM2.00/cup). However, I didn’t try any of their signature dish hence I can’t commend.

Carol ordered nasi goreng kampung (RM6.50). Her comment was that it is very nice. The fried rice, generously served with chicken, squid, shrimp and anchovies gets two thumbs up from the Mrs.

I ordered mi goreng (RM6.50). Served with chicken and shrimps, it was not as generous as the nasi goreng but still was tasting great. I’d recommend the mi goreng as well.

My favourite or rather the chef’s recommendation, the oxtail soup @ sup ekor (RM8.50). Probably a bit too hot for some but just nice for my liking.
Total damage: RM23.20 (2 persons).
How to get there?

One Other # The sup memang mmg sedap. Checkered cloth make it look old school which is nice.
The sup ekor nampak sedap eh… But i like checkered table cloth. I dont know why but it seems to add coziness to the whole room. Sigh…
