We are now proud parents of baby Asher Lugas, born on April 18th 2009 @ 12.06pm at Kuching Specialist Hospital (KcSH). Both baby and mommy are doing great. They’re now at our home in Kuching after spending two nights in KcSH.

Here’s the sequence of events for sharing with our friends who are going to be parents too:

April 17th:

0700 hours: Mommy Lugas had a bleeding and slight pain

0745 hours: Checked by doctor. Bleeding is normal. Still not a clear indicator of when will the delivery be. Stomach pain or contraction pain is a better indicator. Went home. Did last minute shopping for Lugas’ arrival. Mommy Lugas went to saloon to wash her hair just in case she delivers anytime soon where she’ll be in confinement and no hair wash is allowed for 30 days.

1900 hours: Had dinner with our friends at Hong Kong Noodle House at Padungan.

2230 hours: Mommy Lugas had contraction pain for 10 seconds at every 10 minutes interval.

April 18th:

0000 hours: Pain disappeared.

0230 hours: Contraction pain again for about 10-30 seconds at 5 minutes interval. Went to KcSH. Sent to labour room. The nurses strapped hearbeat scanner on the tummy and was put under observation for an hour.

0330 hours: No sign of labour yet. Checked in to ward.

0530 hours: Nurse came to check. Not ready for delivery yet.

0630 hours: Mommy Lugas woke me up complained severe contraction pain. I just smiled and laughed to keep her calm and told her to hang on. I went out to look for the doctor.

0700 hours:  Doctor came in to check. Sent to labour room and was induced. The heartbeat monitor is strapped on the tummy again to monitor the progress. Mommy Lugas was in pain.

0830 hours: Anesthetist came to perform epidural. Mommy Lugas is now smiling because she no longer feels any pain. Her waist downwards are numb as a result from the epidural procedure.

1100 hours: The graph on the heartbeat monitor shows narrower and tighter waves (above). That means the contraction is more frequent and heavier. Epidural stopped to restore numbness.

I was there, in the labour room throughout the entire time. Rumet, no I did not pass out at all. It was a great experience to be part of the giving birth process during that 3 days. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at KcSH. You have portrayed a great level of professionalism and delivered an exceptional service with happy smiles always beaming in your face.

Special thanks to family and friends for the moral and physical support and the schoolbus entourage visiting us at KcSH.

If our married life in 2007 can be called Chapter 1, this is now the starting of Chapter 2 in our life ( both Carol and I). Our new journey now begins …

p/s: Tuan Desmond. Unfortunately when you came at 1pm on Sunday, we had already checked out. So sorry for the disappointment.
