Stranded in Manila

I’m currently stranded in Manila! All roads leading to the airport are flooded. Traffic was in a gridlock. Taxi drivers are turning down requests to go to the airport. All those destined to the airport had to turn back. I was already heading to the airport and had to return to the hotel. I was lucky to get the same room that I checked out from earlier as the Renaissance suddenly fully booked with disappointed guests making cancelling their trips to stay for another night. Found out later on other hotels were fully booked as well.

Happy 09-09-09

Is today unique for you? Today’s date 09-09-09 is unique but I think it’s going to be like any other ordinary day for me. As the Beatle’s song goes, “It’s been a hard’s days night, and I’ve been working like a dog”. That’s pretty much described it quite well my current state of affairs of my daily routine. Working late till past midnight, sometimes up to 2.30am. Tidying up my backlogs on Saturdays and Sundays, even on public holidays too. If all goes well (upon approval of business case), I’ll be setting foot in the Middle East for the first time mid-next month. And then, hopefully things will slow down a bit in November …

Dumb leadership or mere arrogance?

Today is eve of Chinese New Year. I’d like to wish my Chinese friends Kong Hee Fatt Choy, nian nian you yu ;)  Streets of KL are already being deserted, Petaling Street would be tranquil, most shops are closed and Genting casino will be flocked. For me as non-Chinese this means a very long weekend to enjoy.  The Mrs and I decided to drive out of town for a short weekend getaway when I received this peculiar text message on Saturday night.
